Slovenian national team player and long-time player of ACH Volley Ljubljana Matic Videčnik has renewed his contract with the club from the capital city and thus remains in the nest of the current national and cup champions.
The middle blocker, who started his career in his home town of Slovenska Bistrica, first made his name in the jersey of Calcit Kamnik, before moving to the Orange Dragons in 2017, where he remains now. Matic is also a member of the Slovenian men's national team, with whom he has already won two silver medals at the European Championships (2019 and 2021), and is also counted on by the new Slovenian volleyball strategist Mark Lebedew.
The 203 centimetres tall Videčnik is having a great season. Under coach Kašić, he has shown great performances, especially in the second part of the season, and has been one of the key players on the floor. "I am extremely happy to be staying in Ljubljana, especially after such a great season like we had this year. We start next season with the same goals and enthusiasm. There have been some changes in the club, but the core of the team remains the same as last year, which is an advantage because we have become real friends off the field and we work very homogeneously. It's time to take a step forward in the Champions League, where we have our own plans."
The 28-year-old Bistrica player will form a strong Ljubljana block together with Nemanja Mašulović and Danijel Koncilja
In addition to Videčnik, Jani Kovačič and Matej Kök, who have signed multi-year contracts with ACH Volley Ljubljana, will also remain with the club.
