The ACH Volley Ljubljana Volleyball Team Successful at Strong Tournament in Poland
The Orange Dragons spent Thursday to Sunday at an extremely strong preparatory tournament in Wrocław, Poland. In the company of the French team Paris Volley and Polish Premier League teams Trefl Gdansk and Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, they secured third place, confirming good form before continuing the championship. Upon arrival in Poland, the residents of Ljubljana engaged in strength training and played a "training match" against Paris Volley before the official start of the tournament, which ended in favor of the latter. In the tournament's semifinal match, they faced Trefl Gdansk and, after a real drama, had to concede with a score of 3:2. The standout players in the Dragon's team were Klemen Šen with 20 points and captain Nikola Gjorgiev with 19. The Slovenian champions quickly regrouped and convincingly outperformed Paris Volley 3:1 in the Sunday match for third place. Every player of ACH Volley Ljubljana (except the injured Videčnik) stepped onto the court and contributed points, except libero Jani Kovačič, who was rightfully chosen as the most valuable player of the match after an excellent performance. Now, ACH Volley Ljubljana is preparing for the continuation of the domestic championship, first away against Hiša na Kolesih Triglav on Thursday, and then at home in Tivoli Hall against FužinarSijMetalRavne on Sunday.
Statement by ACH Volley Ljubljana's coach, Radovan Gačič: "An excellent preparatory tournament in Poland is behind us. The competition was extremely strong, which is more than welcome for us at this point in the season, as we have the continuation of the championship ahead of us upon our return home. Especially in the match for third place, we played the way we wanted, all the players showed their worth, which gives us additional confidence before the upcoming challenges. All praise to the organizers for the organization and hospitality in Poland."
