The Orange Dragons begin the finals for the 20th national championship title
With tomorrow's first final match at Tivoli Hall at 6 PM, the battle for this season's men's national championship title begins. In the grand final, two familiar foes from the volleyball courts, the current national champion ACH Volley Ljubljana and Calcit Volley from Kamnik, will compete. Both teams reached the finals without significant difficulties.
This season, the rivals have faced each other four times, with each team winning twice on their home court. The importance of home-court advantage is also acknowledged by the coach of the current Slovenian champions, Matjaž Hafner, who stated before tomorrow's derby: "It is certainly better for us to start the final series at Tivoli Hall, but it gives us no guarantees of anything. Tomorrow, we need to show our true face, be aggressive from the first serve, and take advantage of the opportunities presented. At the same time, we cannot afford significant drops in our game, as Kamnik will know how to capitalize on these."
The Ljubljana volleyball players, who changed their coach before the semifinal and soon after terminated the contract with Danijel Koncilja, are returning to their fans after a two-week break, who will be an important factor in the final series. Jani Kovačič, a player from ACH Volley Ljubljana, also looks forward to the start of the final series after a short break: "Matches against Calcit are always special, but this time there is much more at stake, so we are eagerly waiting to start tomorrow. The team is motivated and determined to show its true face now when it is most needed, despite not the most convincing performances throughout the season."
