Radovan Gačič departs as coach of the Slovenian champions, Hafner arrives
From the team of the Slovenian champions, ACH Volley Ljubljana volleyball players, it has been announced that they have terminated their collaboration with the former coach Radovan Gačič, who led the Ljubljana team from the 2022/23 season and celebrated the title of national, cup, and Central European champion with the Ljubljana squad last season. The new coaching name for the Orange Dragons is Matjaž Hafner.
The 52-year-old volleyball expert has led the Swiss Volley Nafels for the past two seasons and left the most significant mark at the Austrian team SK Zadruga Aich/Dob, where he worked from 2015 to 2021. He was also an assistant to Luka Slabe in the Slovenian men's national team and to Bruno Najdič in the women's team. Before starting his coaching career, Matjaž also had a rich playing career, being a member of the Slovenian national team from the very beginning (1992 – 1997), and celebrated two national championship titles in Slovenian club volleyball, first with Vileda Maribor (1992/93), and later with Fužinar (1997/98).
Upon concluding the agreement with the serial national champions, he said for the club's website: "ACH Volley is a club organized at the highest level, and we are all aware that the club strives to achieve the highest goals every year. We do not have much time; I will meet the team today and get down to work. I wish that by the end of the season, every link in the ACH Volley Ljubljana organization contributes their maximum under my leadership, and I strongly believe that we will fight for the title of national champions in the national championship until the very end." Matjaž will sit on the bench of the Slovenian champions until the end of this season.
In the Orange nest, we welcome Matjaž and wish him successful work at ACH Volley Ljubljana. On this occasion, we thank Radovan for all his contributions and work done.
