ACH Volley Ljubljana ahead of a very important game against the Turks
On Wednesday, 30 November, at 18:00, ACH Volley Ljubljana will play the third match of the group stage of the elite Champions League, where they will face the Turkish team Ziraat Bank from Ankara.
The Turkish volleyball team recorded two defeats in their two Champions League matches so far, but in the second round they fought back strongly against the star team from Perugia and proved the exceptional quality of the Ankara team. The team is made up of mostly Turkish players, with the 37-year-old setter Arslan Eksi standing out, who has also made 80 appearances for the Turkish national team. Among the four foreigners in Ziraat's squad, the most outstanding is Wouter Ter Maat, a Dutch opposite who is returning to Ljubljana after this year's Men's Volleyball World Championship.
ACH Volley Ljubljana volleyball players will have two more training sessions before tomorrow's showdown - today in the evening and tomorrow morning.
Coach Radovan Gačič and Alen Šket, a player who played four seasons in Turkey, talked about their expectations ahead of the match.
Radovan Gačič: "One of the most important matches of this season is ahead of us and the atmosphere in the dressing room is appropriate. The players and the professional staff are fully motivated to give our best performance in front of the fans, because that will be enough for the final success."
Alen Šket: "A highly anticipated home game for us. The tension is building up, because we all know how important this match is. The Turks are a tough opponent, they proved that against Perugia. But we also have our own plans and we will try to implement them in front of a full Tivoli."
