On Wednesday, 15 February, at 20.30, ACH Volley Ljubljana will play the return leg of the CEV Cup ¼-final against the current second-placed team in the Italian championship, Valsa Group Modena.
In the first match, last Wednesday at the Tivoli Hall, the weakened Ljubljana players recorded a defeat, but especially in the second, convincingly won set, they proved that they can compete with a star-studded line-up led by Earvin N'Gapeth and Bruno
The squad, led by former Slovenian selector Andrea Gianni, recorded another victory on Sunday in a very strong Italian championship, this time against Taranto, with a 3-1 score.
The medical card of the Ljubljana volleyball players is much better than it was a week ago. The illness, which none of the players have escaped in the last period, is a thing of the past and the team is back in full swing. This was also shown by Saturday's victory in the home championship against Hiša na Kolesih Triglav.
The reigning Slovenian champions will have two training sessions before tomorrow's showdown at the Palapanini Hall, today in the evening and tomorrow in the morning.
Coach Radovan Gačič and player Alen Šket spoke about their expectations ahead of the match.
Radovan Gačič: "Despite the defeat in the first match, we have not given up hope or stopped believing about qualifying for the CEV Cup ½-finals. So we will need to play our best and take advantage of their possible bad day. The team is in a much better state than before the first match, we have a few training sessions behind us that we could do with full load, so I am looking forward to a better resistance from ACH Volley. "
Alen Šket: "The match in Modena will definitely be a real test for our team. After the defeat in Tivoli we are not in a good position, but nothing is lost yet. We have to play our best volleyball, be patient and see where it leads us in the end."
