After the opening ties on the first four points, it was the home volleyball players who were the first to gain a significant advantage, leading 8:4 with captain Gjorgiev on serve. The expected move of the visitors' coach Sašo Rop followed, who called a timeout. In the second half of the set, the Ljubljana volleyball team continued to show their superiority and with a strong offensive attack increased the lead to six points (17:11). In the end of the set, the Slovenian champions got the first final ball, which Koncilija failed to take advantage of with a failed serve. The set ended 25:19 in favour of ACH Volley Ljubljana.
The second set was also quite even at first, but then the Orange Dragons took the initiative and, thanks to Šestan, went into a five-point lead (12:7). The home team's attack only intensified further, but the Kranj volleyball players were unable to make up for the deficit. Videčnik took a nine-point lead in the final set, and the set ended on the 15th point after a successful serve by Todorović (25:15).
The home team successfully defended their role as favourites in the third set, where they went into the first break with a three-point lead (8:5). The Kranj players successfully chased down the deficit (16:14), but despite their effort and a few successful points, they did not show enough to turn the match around. In the end, the Dragons regained the lead, which was enough for a peaceful end to the first semi-final match. After a wasted first final ball, the match was decided by captain Gyorgiev's attack (25:18).
ACH Volley Ljubljana captain Nikola Gjorgiev: "We played a great first semi-final match at a high level. We didn't let the guests from Kranj breathe, and rightly so. Now we need to prepare well for Saturday's return match, where we need to take the same approach as today."
