ACH Volley Ljubljana irrevocably terminates cooperation with Danijel Koncilja
From the camp of the Slovenian champions, ACH Volley Ljubljana volleyball players, it has been announced that as of today, they irrevocably terminate their cooperation with the 33-year-old Slovenian national volleyball team member, Danijel Koncilja. The reason for the termination is the player's positive doping test following the cup match on March 6th in Maribor. The player informed the management of the Slovenian champions, who immediately reacted and unilaterally terminated the contract with Koncilja. Koncilja tested positive for the prohibited substance Carboxy THC, which is more commonly known as marijuana. At the volleyball club ACH Volley Ljubljana, such matters are approached with zero tolerance, and they distance themselves from the issue. The club's sports director, Aleš Jerala, commented on the event for the club's website: "Danijel informed us today about his positive doping test, which took place after the cup match in Maribor. Given that we have no tolerance for such matters in the club, the decision to terminate the cooperation was clear and swift. I would not like to discuss further procedures, as the process by the governing anti-doping organization is not yet concluded." More information regarding the player's situation and further procedures will be known next week. Thus, the ACH Volley Ljubljana team will conclude the season with one less player in the blocker position.
