ACH Volley Ljubljana before the last home match in the Champions League with new reinforcements.
For the current national and cup champions, the ACH Volley Ljubljana volleyball players, the elite Champions League continues with the midweek match against the Italian champions Trentino Itas. The orange dragons, competing in Group B, have suffered four defeats in the so-called "death group" in the previous four matches. However, the motivated Ljubljana team promises to fight for every point and showcase attractive volleyball before the upcoming volleyball celebration in the Tivoli Arena.
In the domestic championship, things are going according to plan for the Ljubljana team, currently holding the first position after the regular season with 13 wins and one loss in 14 matches. The reigning Italian champions, Trentino Itas, remain unstoppable in their domestic league this season as well. They currently top the standings with 11 wins in 12 matches.
Following Mejal's departure, who mutually terminated his contract with the club in November, the team strengthened the setter position. Serbian setter Ivan Marković joins the orange nest. The 24-year-old setter, who previously played for the Cypriot team Nea Salamina Famagusta, will fill the gap at the setter position until the end of the season. In addition to Marković, the management of the Slovenian national and cup champions has also reached an agreement with the Korean player Min-Geun Song, who has been training with the team for some time and has now officially become a member of ACH Volley Ljubljana until the end of the season.
Statement from coach Radovan Gačič: "We are aware that Trentino is a team aiming for the top spots in the Champions League this year and they are the clear favorites before the match in Tivoli. Nevertheless, we want to showcase the best possible game and play the match at a high level. Trentino is a team where we cannot allow even the slightest drop in concentration, and we must strive for that. Two new faces have joined the team, in the libero and setter positions. This will give the team the necessary freshness and width. I definitely hope that on Wednesday evening, we will witness an attractive volleyball match and once again an exceptional atmosphere in the full Tivoli Arena."
Statement from ACH Volley Ljubljana player Matic Videčnik: "The last home match of the Champions League on our home turf in Tivoli, where we again expect an excellent atmosphere and a true volleyball spectacle. To put up a good resistance against the Italian team, we will have to play our best game. I think we have had enough time for rest and quality training, so we are expecting the match with a positive mindset."
