ACH Volley Ljubljana stronger for one more Slovenian national team player
ACH Volley Ljubljana is happy to announce that Slovenian national player Alen Šket is returning to the Dragons' Nest after 8 years. The 33-year-old Bistrica player played for ACH Volley Ljubljana between 2008 and 2013 and won practically everything he could with the club. He has left an indelible mark on the club since then. After many years playing abroad, he returned to Slovenia last year and played for Merkur Maribor, with whom he won the national championship and was one of the key players on the court.
The 205 centimetre tall national player, who has been an indispensable member of the Slovenian national team since 2006, was happy to be back in Ljubljana and told the club website, "I have really fond memories of ACH Volley. I am happy to have the opportunity to return to the club where my career actually started." He will not lack motivation in the upcoming season, because as he says, he has not said the last word in volleyball yet and he wants to win laurels for ACH Volley Ljubljana again, which is his main goal for the next season. He added: "I really want the team to be homogeneous and I want us to show our quality on the court, because I think the championship will be even better than last year."
Šket, who won 13 trophies (5 times national champion, 5 times cup champion, 3 times MEVZA champion) with ACH Volley Ljubljana, was also happy to celebrate his historic qualification for the final Champions League tournament. The club believes that Šket's return came at the right time. ACH Volley Ljubljana President Rasto Oderlap said on the occasion of the signing of Šket: "We have already spent a really good and successful period together with Alen, where among other things we qualified for the final Champions League tournament. Alen is the type of player who will play a very important role both on the court and in the locker room with his vast volleyball knowledge and experience. I am confident that together with him we will return to where we feel best - at the top of Slovenian volleyball."
Šket is currently with the Slovenian national team at the elite Nations League in Rimini, where tomorrow the Slovenian volleyball team will play a historic match against the Serbian national team.
We would like to welcome Alen to ACH Volley Ljubljana!
