ACH Volley Ljubljana volleyball players host world club champions in Tivoli
On Wednesday, 11 January, at 6 p.m., ACH Volley Ljubljana volleyball players will play a highly anticipated group stage match of the elite Champions League on home soil, where they will take on the current world club champions, the Italian team Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia.
The superstar team, which also features Slovenian national team setter and former Orange Dragon Gregor Ropret, is in great form this season and in the middle of a remarkable unbeaten streak of 25 games in all competitions. They have also proven their dominance in the four elite Champions League matches so far, losing only two sets to their opponents.
The Slovenian champions are also performing well in this season's Champions League, with two wins in their four matches so far, and are currently in second place in Group E.
Coach Radovan Gačič and player Jani Kovačič talked about their expectations ahead of the match.
Radovan Gačič: "After more than a month, we are back in Hala Tivoli to face the best team in the world. Add to that the great fans and full stands and I am sure that tomorrow we will have a great volleyball evening in Ljubljana. The team is ready and without any health problems."
Jani Kovačič: "We are really looking forward to the match against Perugia, who will be considered the clear favourite in Wednesday's match. We will do our best to make their life a little bit more difficult and try to take advantage of any slip-ups. The atmosphere in the team is excellent and there are no particular health problems."
