In the final action of the season - the Slovenian Cup final - the Dragons played Calcit Volley. The Kamnic team was more successful, winning their first trophy of the year, their fourth cup trophy overall, with 3:0.
ACH Volley Ljubljana's volleyball team started the final, last match of the season in a promising way. With a block by Videčnik, they were already up by 5 points (11:6), and with a Vučićević's attack, they held the advantage firmly in their own hands (13:8), but then on the other side of the net, Kamnik's three consecutive blocks and a 7:1 partial score brought the team back into the game for the set win (14:15). The half-minute break did not bring the desired reaction on the court, as the Ljubljana team was already 3 points behind (17:20) before the end of the game. The Ljubljana team got even closer at 19:20, but Calcit was able to take advantage of the momentum on their side and brought the set to the end (21:25).
In the second set, Kamnik quickly escaped (4:8) and the Dragons chased them, but unfortunately to no avail. The closest they came was after Gasparini's error on the opening shot, when they were two points behind (12:14), but they couldn't manage more than that in the second set. Calcit volleyball players controlled the game and took a 2:0 lead in sets (21:25) in the final of the Slovenian Cup.
In the first half of the third set, after a great start (9:5), the Orange Dragons were mostly leading by two or three points, but were caught again by their rivals. Martin Kosmina's serve gave them a 16:17 lead, and after a string of three points from Kamnik, the advantage grew to 18:22. The set ended at 22, with Sašo Štalekar cashing in the final ball.
Matija Pleško, coach of ACH Volley Ljubljana: "I think we were physically able to play at a high level today, but mentally we were pretty much on the floor. We also had some minor injury problems just before the start of the Cup, but regardless of that I thought we would win the gold today. We started the match well and controlled the flow until about the middle of the set. But after Hebda changed with Kosmina, things started to go wrong. We tried to make substitutions, we did everything we could to find the players who were in the mood to lead us to victory, but it just didn't work out. Congratulations to Kamnik for winning the cup, I believe they are very happy."
