The first semi-final match of the national championship was played in Kamnik between ACH Volley Ljubljana and Calcit Volley. The hosts won surprisingly quickly, after only three sets.
The home volleyball team entered the first semi-final match of the playoffs with a commanding lead, taking a 5:1 lead on the serve of Dika Purič. Even after a half-minute break by Matija Pleško, Kamnik did not stop, leading 8:3 with an ace by Milosz Hebda, and 12:4 after an ace by Sašo Štalekar. With their second half-minute break, the Ljubljana players only managed to settle their ranks a bit, but they could not get any closer than four points, and that too in the dying minutes of the match, when Matija Kök's attack was successful (19:23). Any doubts about the winner of the opening set were resolved by Gasparini and Jan Klobučar.
In the second set, the home team was the first to gain a slight advantage, with Klobučar's point giving them a 7:4 lead. After another mistake of their own by the Ljubljana players, Kamnik took a 10:6 lead, and Pleško decided to take his first half-minute break of the second set. However, when his team returned to the court after a new ace, this time by Jan Brulc, they were already seven points behind (7:14). The Ljubljana team got even closer to four points (12:16), but after two consecutive aces by Gasparini and a new seven-point deficit (12:19), Pleško called a second half-minute timeout. But after a block by Štalekar, his team was already eight points behind (12:20). The home team did not let the lead slip away, they continued to press with their serves, they were better in other elements of the game, and they took a 2:0 lead in the set after a service error of their own by the Ljubljana players.
The Kamnik team entered the third set with a 3:0 lead on Klobučar's serve, and 6:2 on Brulc's block. The high lead did not lull Jerončič's charges, who continued to dominate on the court, with Klobučar's ace taking them to 12:6, and Gasparini's new point taking them to 19:11. The home volleyball team entered the playoffs with a high lead as well, with 22:15 after a successful attack by Klobučar. Calcit Volley's victory was more or less assured, confirmed by Brulec with a block.
The second semi-final match will take place on Saturday at 20:30 in the Tivoli Arena.
