Slovenian champions also strong against Panvita

In the 7th round match of the Sportklub First Volleyball League in Murska Sobota we watched Panvita Pomgrad and ACH Volley Ljubljana. The home volleyball players of Panvita, who had a great start to the season, had no chance against the Slovenian champions.

ACH Volley Ljubljana: Mejal, Šket 8, Mašulović 11, Todorović 2, Bošnjak, Koncilja, Šestan, Kovačič (L), Gjorgiev 17, Videčnik 6, Kök 11, Šen.  Trener: Radovan Gačič.

The Ljubljana players opened the match better and took the lead after two successful attacks by Gjorgiev and Mašulović (0:2), but Šket maintained the advantage with an ace (5:7). In the second half of the opening set, the visitors only increased their advantage (21:15). Mašulović, with an excellent block, got the first final ball, which was used by Šket with an effective attack (25:17).

The Ljubljana volleyball players also had the initiative at the beginning of the second set and secured a four-point advantage (4:8) with strong serves.. The home volleyball players woke up later and reduced the deficit to a point (10:11), but the Dragons responded and after an ace by Kök, the lead was down to four points again (10:14). This provoked a reaction and a first half-minute break at the request of coach Dejan Fujs. The situation on the court did not change as the reigning national champions continued their rhythm. After an excellent defensive action by the Orange Dragons and an attacking error by the home players, it was clear who the winner of the second set would be at 23:15. It was finished by Šket (19:25).

The third set was also played by the guests, who dominated in all elements of the game. At 14:7, Panvita Pomgrad's coach used the second timeout of the set, but it did not stop the Slovenian champions from winning the championship. Mašulovič secured it with a new block. Captain Gjorgiev was the most efficient player of the game with 17 points.

ACH Volley Ljubljana coach Radovan Gačič: "After the opening game of the Champions League, we had to quickly focus on the home championship and the always challenging away game at Panvita. I am satisfied with the approach of my players and the smooth victory. Now our thoughts are already on the Champions League semi-final, where we will play against the excellent German team SWD powervolleys.
